miss you dad  / Mike McDonnell Jr. (son)
Going too miss you dad. you were always there for me when i need anwsers thank you for being there we sure are going to miss you love you dad

To My Daddy  From Your (Daughter)

First of all I would like to say: I have no idea how to live without you dad. You have always been there for your family and now we are lost without you. You were the king of this family the one that held this family together through good times and hard times. Now this one of the hardest times we have to go through yet again since we lost Jimmy in 2002.  Just wanted to say Thank  you for being my dad, I wouldn't have changed anything for the world. I was and always will be your babygirl.
You taught all of us kids so much, like to stand up for what we believe, don't be a follower be a leader, to be the best we can no matter what, never give up your dreams, when faced with a challenge, accomplish it. You showed all of this to your kids and then passed it on to your grandkids.  You were and always will be the best father there ever was. You will be missed by so many especially your family, your daughter, son, wife, son-in-law, daughter-in-laws, and grandkids.  You are now with your son Jimmy, your mom, your dad and your sister along with so many that we have lost before you. I know where you are and who your with and with knowing that I know that things will be ok and I know that I will see you ALL again someday. Until then you are truely missed and loved by everyone you have touched in one way or another.  I will and have always loved you MY DADDY and now I will miss you for the rest of my life as well.

Love always & forever
Your daughter & babygirl

We are gonna miss you soo much!!!  But you have reached the ultimate goal in life and you are now with your son, my mom and dad, and old "howdy do" grandpa.  We love you very much!!  Thank you for your strength when we were down, now it is our turn.  Love and miss you, xoxoxo!!!

MISS YOU MICK  / LINDA COOK (SISTER-IN-LAW)

IN MEMORY OF MICK:  I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LEFT US SO SUDDENLY.
I TALKED TO YOU ON THE DAY YOU CAME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL AND YOU TOLD ME.  YOU SAID YOU HAD CANCER, AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT.  YOU SAID THATS THE WAY IT IS.  I HUNG IN THERE AS LONG AS I COULD, AND NOW I MUST GO.  DON'T CRY.  I WILL BE OKAY.  I SAID "OH MICK, QUIT SAYING THAT".  HE SAID "NO, I MEAN IT".  I JUST LISTEN TO HIM, AND SAID NO MORE.  I WAS IN SHOCK. HE SAID "SEE YOU  LATER SIS".  I SAID "GOODBY".  I NEVER THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME I TALKED TO HIM.  MICK WILL BE IN MY MEMORIES FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.  HE WAS A GOOD MAN.  WAS FUNNY, CARED ABOUT EVERYONE, AND ALWAYS WAS ALOT OF FUN.  HE ALWAYS TOLD ME HOW MUCH HE LOVED MY SISTER PEGGY.  I KNEW HE WOULD ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF HER, AND HE DID.  HE WILL BE SO SADLY MISSED BY ALL OF US HERE IN TOLEDO.

Miss You Pa  / Melissa McDonnell (Grandaughter)

Peggy--
before talking to Mr. Mick I just want to tell you and how much I enjoyed working with Mick and getting to know him.  Thank you so much for letting me be a part of his life.  MY prayers are with you Peggy, you have a great husband.  Love you.

Mick---
WOW, I had no idea how much I miss you, I miss seeing each and every morning.  I miss seeing you out side of work sitting in your truck with your daughter waiting to start work.  I miss joking and kidding around with you.  Your smile would always bring the sun out.  I know you are in a way better place and having a ball up there.  You have made a mark on the world you left and it will keep shinning on through your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  You will always, always have a special place in my heart.  Your daughter is so right by saying "King", you are the "King" in that family and always will be.  You keeping smiling and laughing Mick, Thank you so much for giving a part of you to me to enjoy while we worked together.  Love and Miss you Mick !!!!

with deepest sympathy  / Rhonda N. (friend of his daughter )

My deepest sympathy for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Although I never had the pleasure of really meeting the man I know he had to have been a great man because he helped raise some great children. Your whole family will be in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Missing a good friend  / Brian Landry (coWorker)

Mick and I worked together for a couple of years. He was a true and honest friend. We talk alot about everything. He even offered to take this crazy Canadian rattlesnake hunting. Hey Mick I will hold on to the screwdriver you gave me and hopfully make it work in the way you always did with honest hard work. Miss ya buddy.

Whispers of Love
By afire, JVP Op on 02/12/07

Whispers of Love

I see you when I open the closet door
Empty hangers where your life once hung
Empty shoes that litter the floor
So many songs still left unsung.

Dreams are crushed
Like light bulb glass
And the implosion
Floods our mind,
Is nothing sacred?
Our child dies
And we are left behind.

Part of my spirit left that day
To guide my son to the light
Part of my spirit left that day
When life grabbed my heart
And took a bite.

The heart is slow to heal
Its a muscle severely bruised
But for a muscle to recover
It needs only to be used

So allow your heart to shine
Wherever you may go
Let your heart beat rule the day
And allow the love to grow

Live love, be love, look for love
Imbue it in what you say
And even though our child died
The love does not go away.

It is then that our soul shall recover
And we can sigh without a cry
Knowing our child is right beside us
Their spirit didn't die.

They seek from us
What we seek in them
Just a moment
To be as one again

They have the need just as we
To feel that love
That tingles the soul,
A connection made, a circuit complete
In our togetherness we are the whole

Whispers of love are everywhere
My lost child now is found
And although his body is forever gone
My soul can hear his song

Music to my ears
When he leaves a penny on the floor,
An orchestra in my heart
When he whispers through the door.

Turn the light on, turn it off
He speaks to me in metaphor
Using what ever that he can
To let me know that there is more

There is more to life than life
Death is not an end
And I find comfort
In the messages; whatever he can send.

Spirit lives on as pure energy
Its in our hearts we find the switch
To turn on that connection
And receive that special gift.

Knowing that love is eternal
And that life is just a dance
Will not provide answers to the whys
But can give us a second chance

To chance to say what's in our hearts
And to listen with our soul
Finding solace in a dialogue
No one else could know

Whispers of love
Are just that,
Gentle murmurs
We hear in our despair
And we know deep in our soul that love never dies
- our child is always there.
